Born and raised in Dallas as the third of four children, 30-year-old Anthony grew up in a family of great achievers. His father, Dr. Tony Evans, is the founder and president of the internationally syndicated radio and television program “The Alternative” and senior pastor of the more than 8,000-member Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. Dr. Evans is a regular speaker at conferences and events around the world. Highly regarded in evangelical circles, Dr. Evans was the first African-American to graduate with a doctoral degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. His mother, Lois, is the executive vice president of The Urban Alternative. He has three siblings – his sister Chrystal is a worship leader and mother of five, while Priscilla, a mother of three, is a writer with Moody Press and Lifeway, traveling the country speaking at events with the likes of Beth Moore and Kay Arthur. Younger brother Jonathan, father of 1, plays NFL football and is a speaker and mentor. Still living today in the same house they’ve had since Anthony was three, Dr. and Mrs. Evans raised a strong, close-knit family, which has created an unbinding family legacy.

Growing up singing, Anthony’s musical career took a more serious turn after college when he began a two-year stint as a vocalist with TRUTH. Next he toured for four years as a vocalist for good friend and gospel music sensation Kirk Franklin. His performances with Kirk, including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Soul Train,” and appearances on the Grammy, Stellar and Dove Award telecasts have become invaluable learning experiences. Anthony’s other musical influences vary from Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith to Commissioned, Andre’ Crouch and The Winans.

For the past six years Anthony has been a solo artist; writing, arranging, and singing around the globe. He has recorded 4 albums: “Even More”, “Letting Go”, “The Bridge,” and most recently his debut Christmas album “What Christmas Means.” All three of Anthony’s major releases were written at times in life when he was trying to understand the depth of God’s love. As the message of “The Bridge” conveys, Anthony is content to worship as God leads him on this incredible journey.

“The Bridge” include such staples as “In Christ Alone,” “Wonderful, Merciful Savior,” and “Everlasting God,” while Even More (debut album), and “Letting Go” (sophomore album) introduce Anthony’s life songs; “Restore Me,” “Here’s My Life,” and “I Choose Now.”

Anthony has teamed with varying organizations including the Billy Graham Evangelical Association, Lifeway, Women of Faith, Promise Keepers, and many more, as his heart and their messages have crossed.

Anthony currently resides in Franklin, Tennessee. He spends most of his free time with his close friends or on a local farm with his horses.

    Hello Anthony,
I first had the pleasure of experiencing your gift of worship through song at the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in NY last December 2008. My family and I visited the church for the first time and ended up missing the morning service…due to getting lost. Since we drove from Phila..we decided to stay for the concert…which was being given by you. I had never heard of you b4…but I love worship…and BTC is definitely known for that…so I figured we were in for a treat. Wow…little did I know how much of a treat we were really in for!! Your worship took my breath away! Although you were new to me….I was very familiar with the love you have for the Father…it poured out from your spirit and filtered into your lyrics with passion. I cried, sang and worshipped and had the best time. I was so glad that I stayed and didnt leave! More than your voice, I truly appreciated your honesty that you shared with us…to make yourself vunerable to people is the scariest thing..but it was beautiful and well worth it. It just made the worship experience for me that much richer. I look forward to hearing you again in person one day and am a new admirer. Also, I’ve never in my life heard anyone sing “It Is Well With My Soul” the way you did that day!!

Anthony, thank you for blessing me today at the New Life Christian bookstore in Queens. God’s anointing is upon you and you demonstrated that today through your new CD “undisguised” and from your humbleness. Thank you for signing my CD and taking a photo with me.

Also your Christmas CD is awesome, in particular the song ‘O Holy Night’. WOW! May God continue to bless and keep you as you continue to spread the GOSPEL.

Mr. Anthony Evans! I must say how proud I am of you and what you are doing in this world. I remember years ago when I watched you perform at the Crystal Cathedral. I was just out of law school and did not have a church home, so I watched that program every Sunday. I was amazed and proud to see you. I see you have done so much since then….what a blessing! Keep it up; I will keep you in my prayers!

    Anthony,

What wonderful worship you led yesterday at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden in MD. Your ministry through song touched both men and women alike. I don’t know if you saw the swell of emotion and tears in some of the men on the jumbotron as you sang Revelation Song. I was blessed to have you autograph a copy of Undisguised and have already listened to it three times since yesterday. God has chosen you and Priscilla to minister to people on His behalf and we were blessed to be touched by both of you in one service. If we did not tell you enough at FBCG, I’d like to say THANK YOU.

What a pleasure it was to meet you and spend a wonderful weekend hearing your awesome music and your sister speak the truth! This weekend in Vienna, VA was awesome! May God continue to bless your life!

I was able to be blessed by your testimony and song “Could It Be” it spoke to something so raw and painful to me and all the many questions of “why?” and how do I go on…I gave myself away all right and all of me and in the end I lost everything I had and myself, I was left alone with a beautiful baby girl…I sought love, approval and affirmation from man but it was all built on lies.

After listening to your testimony and hearing the words to your song I felt like I was blinded all this time to such a simple truth…as simple as the revelation is that everything I was searching in my daughter’s father I already had in Jesus; I never saw it until right then and there when you were singing.

God Bless you and your ministry always and may you forever be transparent!

    Aloha!

WOW!! I am a member of Church by the Glades and today you sang the lyrics ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Is the Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!!!” I love the song and the way you sang it just opened my spirit even more to the Lord. Again, WOW!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift!!! I first heard your voice in Incredible w/ Kirk Franklin. When I heard you at church, I knew you were the same guy. Great voice and an even greater spirit! May God continue to bless you.

  14. Diane

    Hi Anthony:

I attended Church By The Glades today and I hear you sing. Your voice is so pure. I’m a new believer and the song really resonated with me. I bought your album as well, I haven’t listened to it yet but I love the title “undisguised”. I believe I am entering into that transformation time in my life and god is requesting that I step into the world undisguised and pure. I have to say it has been hard so far. I’m hoping to use your music as a guide, as music has always helped me to cope. So thank you!

Hey Anthony, was watching Praise the Lord (randomly) tonight (6/4/10) and saw you singing on there. I love your Dad’s radio broadcast by the way and still plan to attend a service at his church one of these days (I live in Dallas), but I digress. So, this is a totally random question, and probably highly unlikely, but did you ever hang with Irving Bible Church youth group and youth pastor Scott Werntz back in the day? Like in ’94-96. If so, I’m wondering if you’re the same guy that used to sing sometimes on Wednesday nights or for youth stuff we’d do or trips when we’d have talent shows. I remember this great guy that I hung with singing “eye on the sparrow” and I saw you tonight and was transported back in time and thought, “could that be the same guy?” Anyway, I was there back then, (Mac class of ’96). Like I said, totally random and probably not you. Good singing though. Thanks and God Bless!

  21. Stacy

Hi Anthony and family. I’m from Trinidad and Tobago and I just had the privilege of hearing you sing on TBN. Great talent, great message, great God! You have a scientific approach to loving God. Let your reasoning continue to lead you closer and closer to Him!

  22. Gwendolyn

Anthony, all I can say is WOW!! I saw you on TBN last night (June 4th). I missed the first part of it when you sang the first song, but I did see the last part where you talked and then you sang “could it be” don’t know if that’s the name of the song but it was awesome. I’ve never heard of you but I was blessed hearing you speak of God’s love and your family. I happen to be flipping through the channels and there I stopped. When you spoke and in your song the presence of God was ever present. When you were talking about believing God to do things in our lives we can’t just stand against the wall and do nothing. It’s like you were saying Faith without works is dead, so I will join you and actively wait. I work in radio and I love music, so I was like noooo sing again. But anyways, continue to let God use you.

  23. HERSHANNA

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR WORSHIP EXPRIENCE, IN MUSIC. I LOVE WHEN SINGERS AND SONGWRITER ARE OPEN AND HONEST; YOU CAN FEEL THE POWER AND TRUTH IN EVERY WORD.

  24. Queria Turner

    Anthony,

My sister called me about a week ago and said, “Queria, I think you will love this artist!” I listended to one of your songs on the phone…….WOW! As the tears begin to swell in my eyes, my heart was touched. I felt so much pain being released from my soul. This morning when I got in my car, she had let your cd in my car. I listened to it on the way to work and I brought it in to listen to now. As I sat here and worked, I decided to visit your website. Let me tell you this……….Your voice is a great tool that my savior is using to heal and touch people. I know because I am one of them. :) Your music has inspired me to push through hurts and allow God to birth something new in me. THANK YOU ANTHONY EVANS!!!
